The online business on offer sells, among other things, air purifiers and a range of infrared heaters. The online business provides customers with the added service of a power calculator, which helps determine the required output. This calculation leads to fewer returns and higher revenue because more—or larger—panels are sold. The products are purchased directly from the factory in China and are produced there under the company’s own brand name.
Turnover from the infrared panels is heavily concentrated in the months of October through December. This seasonal pattern creates opportunities to broaden the assortment and spread revenue throughout the year. A successful test with air purifiers is already under way, and a study has been carried out on other products to generate additional revenue year-round. All products can be sourced through an English-speaking contact in China and sold under the same in-house brand name.
In addition to direct sales to consumers, the online business has a B2B portal. This portal allows other online businesses and installers to buy at wholesale prices, with sufficient margin between purchase and selling prices.
